Rathan-Mayes unleashed a late-game shooting display that stunned all watching…
Florida State star Xavier Rathan-Mayes produced a spectacular performance on Wednesday as he scored 30 points in the final 4:38 of the game against the Miami Hurricanes.
Miami built an 18-point lead and survived the late heroics from the freshman guard as they won 81-77, but it took nothing away from his individual brilliance.
Rathan-Mayes scored 26 consecutive points for FSU without missing a single shot, as he went 8-for-10 in the final five minutes, sinking six 3-pointers and finished the game with 35 points to tie his career high.
While he will have been disappointed with not being able to get the win for his team, it certainly created headlines as coaches from both sides were in awe of the performance as they described it as something that they had never seen before.
“Montay Brandon looked at me and told me that he needed me,” Rathan-Mayes said, according to Yahoo Sports.
“When one of your brothers says that he needs you, you’re going to do anything you can to respond to that call.”
Boy did he respond to that call…
