Mayweather contemplates retirement in near future…
Undefeated WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather is ready for his clash with Marcos Maidana at the MGM Grand on Saturday night.
Both fighters spoke at the press conference on Wednesday, and despite possible distractions with talk of a takeover bid for the NBA franchise, the Los Angeles Clippers, Mayweather is undoubtedly fully focused on his upcoming fight.
The 37-year-old is guaranteed a minimum purse of $32m for his welterweight unification fight with Maidana, which only adds to his wealth after being named the highest-paid athlete in the world for 2013.
Meanwhile, Amir Khan will feature on the undercard as he takes on Luis Collazo with a view of fighting Mayweather in the next year, but all the focus will be on the bouts on Saturday as both men will want to come through unscathed.
Nevertheless, ever the man to steal the headlines, Mayweather hinted at the possibility of retirement in the near future, as considering he is “comfortable” financially, he has other things on his mind moving forward and that could mean an end to his career sooner than most would of thought.
However, he will still attract the PPV numbers on Saturday and it promises to be a fantastic night of action from the MGM Grand:
