Floyd Mayweather has called out rival Manny Pacquiao and has insisted that he wants to get in the ring with him on May 2 next year.
After years of false speculation that the pair were nearing an agreement over a fight, Mayweather gave the biggest indication yet that he would be willing to step into the ring against his old foe in 2015.
The 37-year-old was speaking on Showtime and insisted that he was ready to reach out to Pacquiao’s camp and agree on terms to secure a showdown between the two boxers that most experts regard as the “best pound-for-pound” fighters of their generation.
Mayweather insisted that he wanted to do it for his legacy, for the fans and the financial gain, but he claims that it is Pacquiao’s camp that are delaying the fight not him.
“We want the fight, we are ready,” Mayweather said. “Let’s make it happen on May 2. Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao. Let’s do it.
“I am not ducking or dodging any opponent. Bob Arum is stopping the fight.
“I wanted that fight a long time ago and I am just waiting on them.
“Let’s make this fight happen. Bob Arum and Manny Pacquiao, you guys have been ducking us for years.
“We are tired of you guys fooling the public, fooling the critics.
“We tried to make the fight happen before and you guys didn’t want to take random blood and urine testing so that’s why the fight didn’t happen. Then I offered you $40m and then you didn’t want to make the fight happen.
“You lost twice now and you are coming back begging for the same money. That is not going to happen.”
