Former lead investigator in Pistorius murder investigation quits South African police force.
Brigadier Neville Malila discussed has discussed the decision of Hilton Botha – the former lead detective in the Oscar Pistorius murder investigation – to quit the South African police force.
Malila said that Botha’s resignation would not effect the Pistorius case and said that if Botha was needed in court he would be available.
Det Botha was dropped from the investigation in February after it emerged that he was facing attempted murder charges in another case.
He has also been heavily criticised for giving contradictory evidence at the bail hearing of Paralympic Champion Pistorius, who has been charged with the Valentine’s day of his girlfriend, the model Reeva Steenkamp.
