Australian failed to win the 2004 Champions Trophy after being knocked out in the semi-finals by England before having a successful domestic season in 2004-2005, beating New Zealand 2-0 and Pakistan 3-0.
However, 2005 will be a year to forget for Ponting as he became the first Australian captain to lose The Ashes to England for 16 years.
