AFL heavyweight nearly drops game on the eve of the finals series.
The Brisbane Lions went agonisingly close to upsetting the best-laid plans by the Geelong cats to push them all the way to the final siren at Simonds Stadium.
After leading comfortably by 26 points early in the final term, the Lions staged a huge comeback against one of the best sides in the competition this year.
Brisbane were denied a possible last chance at victory when Paul Chapman was not penalsied for holding the ball in the dying seconds.
But the call went the way of the away side as they hung on to win 15.22 (112) to 17.9 (111), with the Cats finishing second on the ladder and will now play Fremantle in the first week of the finals.
