Bartel was ridiculed on social media after appearing to take a dive for Cats against the Hawks on Saturday.
Geelong’s Jimmy Bartel has been slammed for diving during the Cats’ loss to Hawthorn on Saturday.
Bartel was awarded a free kick after appearing to go down rather theatrically, claiming he was pushed by the Hawks’ Matthew Suckling during the second quarter of the crunch game.
The Brownlow Medal winner then slotted home a goal from 40 metres out, handing Geelong a 12-point lead.
Bartel was slammed on social media, with a huge number of Tweets ridiculing the act.
Check out the footage below and let us know if YOU thought it was an Oscar-winning performance:
Quality acting at least. Jimmy Bartel definitely Robert De Niro to Lindsay Thomas's Alf Stewart from Home & Away there. #AFLHawksCats
