Ward open to Golovkin fight: Trainer Virgil Hunter says his fighter is ready for it.
The 32-year-old champion goes into the fight as a heavy favourite, but there is no denying that this could be his toughest test yet.
Murray has mixed it with some of the top talents in the world in his previous fights, but despite Golovkin’s heavy hands, he hasn’t yet taken on an elite fighter in his division.
GGG remains unbeaten in his 31 professional fights and has recorded 28 knockouts – which includes a current streak of 18 straight KOs – but Murray insists that his previous opponents have shown him too much respect and he won’t be making that same mistake on Saturday night.
Murray stuck a picture of his opponent on his heavy-bag through training camp, and he revealed earlier this week that he was sick of the sight of Golovkin and wanted to take his titles away from him.
Whether or not he is capable of handling his power remains to be seen, but after close fights with the likes of Felix Sturm and Sergio Martinez, Murray will certainly know what to expect and will want to take GGG into the latter rounds to see what he is really made of.
