Brazilian light heavyweight continues to cut a swathe through the division.
It is the most impressive winning streak in the UFC currently not belonging to a man with gold around his waist.
Glover Teixeira now has won his past 20 fights in a row and will become the next contender for the light heavyweight belt after the upcoming Jon Jones and Alexander Gustaffson bout.
“Hands of Stone” lived up to his nickname to earn his 22nd win of his professional career in knocking out Ryan Bader 2.55 minutes into the first round to win the $50,000 bonus.
Bader came on strong in the first round and hit Teixeira with a combination that dropped the home town hero.
But he managed to get back to his feet and landed a two-punch combo that his Bader flush, seeing him drop to the ground where he was pounded on for the early stoppage finish.
Teixeira said he was not happy with her performance overall and said he would get back in the gym as soon as possible in order to improve again for the winner of the Jones and Gustaffson fight.
“To tell you the truth, I wasn’t happy with this fight,” Teixeira said immediately after the fight.
“I was disappointed he was able to knock me down. … But I’m telling you, this belt is going to be mine. It doesn’t matter if it’s Jon Jones or Gustafsson. It’s mine.”
