Falling behind 6-3 late in the first half, Oklahoma State knotted up the score with a FG with 0:53 remaining. What happened next might have been one of the zaniest plays in team history (from B/R):
That’s right: After unintentionally botching the kickoff and making it essentially an onside kick, Iowa State failed to recover the ball and watched as it rolled passed them, where an Oklahoma State special teamer was able to pick up the ball deep in Iowa State territory. With 0:11 remaining Oklahoma State scored a TD to give them their first – and eventually permanent – lead of the day.
Sometimes good things come in strange packages.
