Real Madrid’s hopes of setting up a Champions League final Clasico were dashed on Wednesday night as Juventus held on for a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu to secure a 3-2 aggregate victory.
A Cristiano Ronaldo penalty kick gave Real a deserved lead on 23 minutes, smashing his effort past Gianluigi Buffon to put the defending champions ahead on away goals.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men threatened to move further ahead, but their finishing was simply not good enough.
Their wastefulness was punished just before the hour mark when Alvaro Morata, who Real sold to Juve for £15.8m last summer, added to his goal in the first leg with a well-taken volley.

Real pushed and pushed for a goal that would have forced extra time, but Juve’s defence stood firm in true Italian style.
The Serie A champions had just seven shots tonight, while Real had 23 attempts.
However, considering everything over both legs, the better team went through.
Real have the stars, but Juve – who have a few wonderful players of their own – are ridiculously well organised.
Juve and Barca will contest the final on June 6.
