The Indians were chasing 153 at the interval and it looked a forlorn objective when they were reduced to 40/4 after a delightful early attack from the Daredevils.
The match was twice disrupted by rain but even the lightning in the Mumbai skies couldn’t match the Indians’ late surge in the final few overs to pick up a crucial IPL win at the Wankhede Stadium.
See how the match played out below:
Delhi Daredevils: 0/1 Agarwal 0 (c Patel b Malinga)
Delhi got off to an absolutely abominable start with Malinga enticing Agarwal into a halfhearted block that only glanced the bat and flew through to Patel on the wickets.
Delhi Daredevils: 25/1
Mumbai missed a great opportunity to oust Iyer who skied a shot into cover, but two Mumbai Indian fielders seems to disagree over who’s actually meant to be catching it before juggling it to the ground.
Delhi Daredevils: 43/2 Iyer 19 (c Kumar b Harbhajan)
But Mumbai didn’t make the same mistake again when Iyer skied another with Kumar taking a comfortable catch.
Delhi Daredevils: 50/3 Duminy 19 (c&b Suchitch)
It was a soft, soft dismissal for Duminy but a great and aware catch by Suchitch, Mumbai could have easily spurned that chance but took full advantage.
Delhi Daredevils: 78/4 Jadhav 16 (st Pathiv Patel b Harbhajan)
Harbhajan capped off a wonderful days bowling – figures of 11-2 after four overs – with this smart dismissal of Jadhav; luring him from the crease and allowing Parthiv Patel to stump him.
