Another one-day international century from Virat Kohli helped the Indians to glory as in the end their opponents were no match for their rivals.
Kohli was out shortly afterwards – caught behind off the bowling of Sohail Khan – but his total of 107 helped build the foundation for victory.
Sohail actually went onto get a five fer in the match for just 55 runs, also dismissing Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni and Ajinkya Rahane.
In reply the Pakistanis lost opener Younus Khan early on as he was caught behind sharply by Dhoni, before some even quicker relexes from Ravi Ashwin in the slips dismissed Haris Sohail.
The collapse then started after a decent start, with Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal both getting out – the latter in somewhat controversial circumstances after a review from the Indians.
When Shahid ‘Boom Boom’ Afridi was caught by Man of the Match Kohli the defeat looked inevitable and Wahib Riaz and Yasir Shah fell in quick succession shortly after.
When the last bastion of defence Misbah-ul-Haq was caught off the bowling of Mohammed Shami the fight was finally up for Pakistan and in the end the 76 run victory for Dhoni’s men was wholly justified.
