Mumbai Indians win by five runs to leave Kolkata Knight Rider’s play-off hopes in considerable doubt.
The hosts have kept up their own hopes of qualifying with this tight victory and must win their last game and hope other results go their way. In what was a sensational game of cricket, the tension in the stadium was clearly notable right until the last ball.

The Mumbai Indians set the tone throughout the first innings with some consistent batting. Kieron Pollard started off with some wonderful boundaries and was monumental as the hosts set a target of 172, yet his defining moment would come later on in the game.
Robin Uthappa was prominent for KKR once they got into the rhythm of their batting and this boundary took their runs to 45-1. It quickly became evident that this game would end due to small details.
Umesh Yadav squeezed through a boundary in the last over – due to some poor fielding it must be said – and the deciding over would become the last one with KKR needing six from three balls. Pollard, who hadn’t bowled until this point, was given the chance to win the game for his side in the 20th over.
After taking a wicket, Pollard bowled wonderfully and was rightfully the hero on the night after guiding MI to a close victory.
