Sunrisers Hyderabad were given a very healthy start by captain David Warner who started off the batting for the hosts and hit multiple maximum strikes. Having said that, Kings XI Punjab’s bowling didn’t exactly give him a tough challenge with some short balls.
Warner continued to put on an exhibition as he displayed his array of shots and at this point, it looked as though he could reach a century.
However, after an average bowl from Beuran Hendricks, Warner was too smart for his own good and attempted to scoop the ball over his right shoulder for a boundary. It didn’t come off and he was gone for 81.
In the very last over, comical fielding from Kings XI Punjab gave the Sunrisers a final run leaving the visitors chasing a total of 186.
It proved to be too much for Kings XI Punjab to reach despite the sensational innings from David Miller who almost single-handedly brought his side back into the game. Losing by just five runs, Miller was 89 not out as the game ended. Ultimately, poor fielding cost the team now rooted to the bottom of the IPL table.
