Olympic gold medallist wants to make history by winning world title.
James DeGale has his eyes set on facing Carl Froch in the next few months having put himself in a mandatory position for the IBF title.
With Matchroom Boxing announcing a string of high profile cards over the coming months, DeGale insists that he wants a shot at the ‘Cobra’ either at the end of this year or early next year.
Matthew Macklin and Anthony Joshua star in Dublin on August 30, while Scott Quigg and Anthony Crolla will headline the show in Manchester on September 13.
Following on from that Paul Smith will challenge Arthur Abraham for his WBO World Super Middleweight title on September 27.
As for DeGale, he will feature on a card on October 11 at the O2 in London along with Kevin Mitchell and Joshua, although much will depend on whether or not Froch gets his dream fight in Las Vegas against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Regardless, DeGale is confident that while he has the utmost respect for his British rival, he has the style and ability to overcome Froch and end his time at the top whilst creating history by becoming the first British Olympic gold medallist to go on and win a world title.
With George Groves getting his career back on track with a bout against Christopher Rebrasse in September, DeGale will hope to avoid falling back into the shadows again and it is clear that he is gunning for a title fight with Froch.
