England play Sri Lanka ahead of going to Australia for a tri-series and the World Cup…
Joe Root has backed England to bounce back from a poor summer and be successful in Sri Lanka. The 23-year-old wants the side to build a winning mentality before the World Cup in the new year.
The batsman has said that the team is raring to go following a short break from international cricket. He also said that the tour can be useful going in to the World Cup, despite the very different conditions they will face.
England have lost their three ODI series’ against Australia, Sri Lanka, and India over the last 12 months. However, a win in their most recent match showed some promise that could be built on.
Root wants the side to create a base in Sri Lanka that they can then build on before they travel to Australia.
