He’s one of the most polarizing athletes in sports for both his attitude and his play, but Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel aka Johnny Football showed some flashes of greatness in a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football.
The Browns had a rough night as Bengals QB Andy Dalton connected with TE Tyler Eifert on two TDs to take a 14-3 lead in the first half. But it was Manziel who made the signature play of the half with a stunning scramble followed by a laser to Duke Johnson Jr for a TD with 0:27 remaining in the half.

Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be enough as the Bengals defense went into lockdown mode, keeping Manziel and the Browns scoreless in the second half while scoring another 14 points in the fourth quarter.
The nail in the coffin was the third Eifert TD of the night.

The loss dropped Cleveland to 2-7 on the season, and Manziel’s final numbers were a lot less impressive on paper.
Manziel showed flashes, but a team needs more than flashes to become a legitimate team.
