Argentinian secures hard-fought win at Marassi.
Juventus striker Carlos Tevez scored on his Serie A debut to hand the reigning champions a 1-0 win at Sampdoria on Saturday night.
The 29-year-old got life at his new club off to the perfect start in the league as his goal was ultimately the difference in a close game.
Juve had lost both meetings against Sampdoria last season, and boss Antonio Conte was eager to avoid a repeat and get their season off to a strong start.
Furthermore, rivals AC Milan were beaten away at Hellas Verona earlier on Saturday evening thanks to a brace from Italian veteran Luca Toni, and the pressure was therefore on Juve to avoid a similar fate.
With midfielder Paul Pogba also producing a solid performance, it was Tevez who stole the headlines after he added to his strike in the Italian Super Cup last weekend and clinched all three points for the visitors.
