Brook returned to hero’s welcome in Sheffield on Friday…
IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook predicts a war between himself and Amir Khan when they face off next year and insists he is now in a position to dictate terms.
Fresh from winning his title in California last Saturday night against Shawn Porter, the 28-year-old returned to Sheffield on Friday to a hero’s welcome.
With promoter Eddie Hearn revealing that Brook will make the first defence of his title in Sheffield on December 6, the same night Khan is scheduled to fight in the USA, it is assumed that the two British fighters will cross paths next year.
However, Brook believes that having now established himself as a champion, he is now in a position to dictate terms and effectively he “holds the cards” when discussions begin with Khan’s camp.
Both men continue to eye a future mega-fight with the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, but Brook is eager to now continue to prove that he belongs at this level and would relish the opportunity to finally silence his long-time domestic rival.
