The Nuggets have won two in a row since Shaw departed, with interim coach Melvin Hunt seemingly getting the best out of them after a miserable season thus far.
However, they haven’t escaped criticism for the way that the acted during Shaw’s spell in charge with speculation last week suggesting that they broke a huddle with ‘1-2-3…six weeks’, as in six weeks remaining until the end of the season.
With that kind of attitude it was no surprise that things didn’t improve for Shaw, and the likes of Paul George and David West have slammed the Nuggets players for their behaviour and lack of loyalty.
After the 100-85 loss to Denver on Wednesday night, Garnett gave his opinion on it and revealed that he thought that the Nuggets were “quitters” and that they would quit again during the game as seen in the video below.
There are certainly issues remaining in the Denver locker room, but a coaching change has had an immediate impact on the players who are playing with intensity and urgency.
However, it doesn’t take away from the disappointment of how they acted with Shaw, who appeared to struggle controlling the team from the off.
Whether or not he lands another head coaching role in the NBA remains to be seen, but the Nuggets have certainly got a reputation around the league now and they won’t be welcomed back to Indiana or Minnesota any time soon.
