The tables were turned as the all-rounder hit the West Indian into the stands to win their IPL clash.
There was a touch of irony when Kings XI Punjab all-rounder David Miller hit Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Chris Gayle for six to win the match for his IPL franchise.
Gayle is renowned for his own huge knocks with the bat and earlier in the tournament the West Indian broke the world record for most sixes in a Twenty20 match with 17.
Yet Monday’s clash belonged to Kings XI and their South African talisman Miller, as with three required for the win and five needed for his 38-ball century, the 23-year-old crashed Gayle’s spin bowling into the stands.
The Punjab all-rounder’s 100 was the third fastest in IPL history, with Gayle holding the No.1 spot.
