Lakers overcome a 25-point deficit to escape with win.
Kobe Bryant enjoyed a vintage night on Wednesday as he led an unlikely fourth quarter Los Angeles Lakers comeback to seal a 108-102 win over the New Orleans Hornets.
The Lakers denied New Orleans a single point in the last 6:47 of the game, finishing on a 20-0 run to leave the capacity crowd in disbelief at the collapse.
Bryant scored 42 points in total, but hit 13 points in the final 8 minutes of the game alone to lead the comeback.
The ‘Black Mamba’ finished with 12 assists and seven rebounds, while team-mate Dwight Howard also contributed a huge block near the end of the game as well as 20 points and 15 rebounds of his own.
The unlikely win moves the Lakers to 31-31 for the season, and could perhaps be remembered as a decisive turning point in their race to reach the play-offs.
They still trail Utah Jazz in eighth spot but have undoubtedly increased the pressure on their rivals.
