Bryant has his say on Ibaka’s flagrant foul on Blake Griffin.
Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant has revealed he probably “would have smacked” Oklahoma City Thunder’s Serge Ibaka for a flagrant foul like the one he dished out on Blake Griffin.
Ibaka was given a flagrant-1 foul for his low blow on Griffin during the Thunder’s win at the Staples Center on Sunday, but could be suspended for the Lakers game on Tuesday following a review.
According to Fox Sports West, Bryant says he would have reacted to the Thunder’s power forward if he was the victim of such a move.
“I probably would have smacked him in the mouth,” Bryant said at practice on Monday.
“I would have dealt with the pain afterward.” Unfortunately for Griffin, he was in no state to react as he writhed around in pain following the hit while the replays were shown.
Ibaka defended himself after the game, arguing that he was merely trying to get a better position inside the paint, and it wasn’t easy when faced with someone like Griffin.
Team-mate Kendrick Perkins also took his side, questioning how innocent the Clippers big man was in the situation
He went on to play a key role in that game, but whether he is able to face Bryant and the Lakers Tuesday night, is in the hands of the NBA.
