Los Angeles Galaxy and Portland Timbers played out a 0-0 draw in the MLS as neither team could make the breakthrough required to secure victory.
The home side were favourites going into the game, and had thirteen shots throughout the match, but a combination of decent goalkeeping by Donovan Ricketts in the Timbers net and wayward finishing from some of the more reliable Galaxy forwards resulted in them being unable to break down a stoic defence.
Indeed, neither Republic of Ireland record international goalscorer Robbie Keane or LA Galaxy stalwart Landon Donovan were firing on all cylinders, and the best performers on either side were the defenders and goalkeepers, who all had a reasonably comfortable night.
