Ross Barkley had halved the visitors’ deficit with a deflected effort just minutes before half-time, but it wasn’t enough to deny Arsene Wenger’s side their fourth straight win.
Coupled with their victory in mid-week over Bayern Munich, it appears as though the Frenchman and his players are building momentum and will hope to prolong their current form for as long as possible.
Although they could be displaced from top spot as early as tomorrow following the Manchester derby, Arsenal supporters will undoubtedly be delighted with their team’s recent performances.
Having fallen to defeat on the opening day of the season to West Ham, their turnaround has been impressive as they look to keep up the pace along with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United in their bid to end their wait for a Premier League title.
Arsenal’s next assignment is the Capital One Cup clash against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night, and although Wenger may be tempted into rotating his squad, he will be hopeful that they can extend their recent good form in all competitions.
