The Lions thrash the Cheetahs to end their season on a high.
The Lions, who had scored only 23 tries in 15 previous Super Rugby matches this season, ran in eight to humiliate the Cheetahs 60-25 in Johannesburg on Sunday.
Cheetahs contributed to their own downfall at a chilly Ellis Park by having three players sin-binned, and the Lions crossed the try-line five times when numerically advantaged.
Right wing Lionel Mapoe scored three tries in the final-round game and scrum half Ross Cronje, hooker Robbie Coetzee, number eight Warren Whiteley, full-back Andries Coetzee and prop Corne Fourie one each.
Fly half Elton Jantjies, playing his final game for the Johannesburg franchise before joining a Japanese club, kicked seven conversions and two penalties for a 20-point total.
