Liverpool legend Phil Thompson could not help but take a cheeky dig at Ashley Young after another week in which the Manchester United winger’s unsavoury diving habit took centre attention.
Not for the first time, Young was called out for apparent simulation after appearing to throw himself to the ground during United’s Champions League win over CSKA Moscow, as The Guardian reports.
Thompson could not resist chiming in with a cracking reference to Tom Daley – Britain’s diving hero who won bronze at the London 2012 Olympics – which he had probably been working on all morning!

Young has made 127 appearances for United, scoring 13 goals, since arriving from Aston Villa in 2011, but his time at Old Trafford has been marred by his unnecessary theatrics in and around the box.
He remains a trusted figure by Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal, and has been deployed at right-back for this afternoon’s visit of West Bromwich Albion. Let’s just hope he can stay on his feet today!
