Sharks edge out Kings in shoot-out to seal win.
In a frantic game between two Western Conference rivals, the San Jose Sharks edged out the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 with a shoot-out required to split the pair.
Antti Niemi was just one of the stars of the night for the Sharks, after making 43 saves in regulation and overtime, he went on to save all three efforts from the Kings in the shoot-out, with Raffi Torres netting the winning shot.
There are still five regular season games remaining for the two teams, but there was almost a sense of a play-off atmosphere at the HP Pavilion as they put on a thrilling game.
Both the Kings and Sharks are now on 53 points, with the former sitting above their rivals in fourth as a result of having more non-shootout wins than the Sharks.
