Bryant’s monster game propels Lakers past Lillard and Blazers.
Kobe Bryant had a season-high 47 points as he dragged the Los Angeles Lakers to a critical 113-106 win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
Bryant finished 14-for-27 from the field and 18-for-18 from the foul line as he played all 48 minutes of the win which now gives the Lakers a one-game lead over the Utah Jazz for the eighth and final play-off spot in the Western Conference.
Portland rookie Damian Lillard scored a career-high 38 points as he went toe-to-toe with Bryant at one stage with the ‘Mamba’ switching to guard him. However, he couldn’t prevent Portland from slipping to their ninth straight loss as Bryant’s will eventually prevailed.
The Lakers now host the Golden State Warriors on Friday hoping to extend their lead over Utah, while the Trail Blazers welcome Oklahoma City Thunder to the Rose Garden on the same night.
