Cristiano Ronaldo fired home at the far post to fire Real Madrid into the lead against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League at Old Trafford.
Manchester United fell behind in their UEFA Champions League last 16 tie to Real Madrid to one of the best players in the world – and one who used to play for them:
Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese winger-cum-forward slid in to tap home a Gonzalo Higuain cross to fire Real Madrid into the lead, and as classily as in the first leg of the tie, refused to celebrate his goal.
Having received a better reception than anyone on the pitch – even veteran Ryan Giggs, who was making his 1000th appearance in football – it was the least he could do.
It left the Red Devils with an enormous mountain to climb.
Already ten men down and having conceded two goals to the away side, Manchester United suddenly had to win the game outright in order to progress.
