Carlton Blues skipper Marc Murphy kicked a mercurial goal for the visitors in the opening quarter of a frenetic first quarter against West Coast Eagles. The wonderful shot, just two minutes before the interval, was the icing on the cake for the underdogs who appear up to the challenge.

The elite midfielder is certainly one player you don’t want to leave free at stoppages.
With the Blues in the ascendancy, Murphy, worked 10 metres of space for himself and was left all alone. A splendid tap down to Murphy saw the player, who was under an injury cloud pre-game, bend an inch-perfect shot through the goals.
This type of electrifying act epitomised Carlton’s first term as they took a deserved two goal-lead into the quarter time break.
As for Murphy, his superb goal will be widely considered as an early goal of the season contender.
