The Pirates gave the Wildcats a noble effort as they held a lead at the very beginning, but they ultimately lost, 79-56.
They were able to keep it relatively close for part of the first half, but Kentucky’s depth was too much for them as they fell behind and never caught up.
Forward Karl-Anthony Towns continued to show why he is a future NBA Draft lottery pick by leading the Wildcats with 21 points and 11 rebounds while blocking three shots.
Fellow big man Willie Cauley-Stein also contributed heavily in the rebounding department with 11 despite being quiet in the offensive game.
For the Pirates, guard Quinton Chievous scored 22 points while snagging 10 rebounds.
Here are video highlights that show how the game started off before it shifted in Kentucky’s favor.
