Sharapova aiming to make up for four previous defeats in the final in Miami.
Big-hitting Russian Maria Sharapova had few problems in seeing off the challenge of Sara Errani in the semi-finals of the Sony Open in Miami on Wednesday.
The former world number one, who had never previously lost to her Italian opponent, sailed through in straight sets 7-7, 7-5, although she was far from her very best, making an incredible 57 unforced errors on her way to victory in the Florida sunshine.
Sharapova will now take on Jelena Jankovic for a place in the final this weekend.
