German international gets on the mark for new club in pre-season win.
Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez scored his first goals for the club in a 7-1 win over Cremonese as the Viola continue their impressive pre-season preparations.
The 27-year-old bagged a brace on Wednesday, pouncing on a rebound from a Massimo Ambrosini shot before getting on the end of a Facundo Roncaglia cross to double his tally.
Elsewhere, Giuseppe Rossi also scored twice as he works his way back to full match fitness after recovering from knee troubles, while Adem Ljajic got on the score-sheet with a nice finish as Vincenzo Montella’s men cantered to victory.
The Italian tactician will have been impressed with how his new players integrated into the team, with the Viola boasting impressive options both in midfield and attack.
Joaquin was also in action following his switch from Malaga, while the likes of Ambrosini, David Pizzaro and Borja Valero produced solid performances in midfield.
Although it may well be pre-season games aimed at improving fitness levels against inferior opposition, Fiorentina are undoubtedly looking a daunting unit ahead of the new Serie A season.
