Both men arrived in Las Vegas on Tuesday ahead of the biggest fight in boxing history at the MGM Grand on Saturday night, but while Mayweather held his grand entrance at the venue for the bout, Pacquiao held a separate fan rally at the Mandalay Bay.
As expected, both fighters received a rapturous welcome from their supporters, and although it remains to be seen what the split is like in the Garden Arena this weekend, Pac-Man certainly has a significant Filipino following in Vegas this week.
With the excitement building ahead of fight night, the pair aren’t expected to engage in too much talk given Pacquiao’s laid-back and humble approach while Mayweather was reserved in the first press conference in Los Angeles back in March.
Things could change at the weigh-in on Friday as the unbeaten American is known for sharing a few words with his opponent in the head-to-head, but Wednesday is expected to pass with few talking points aside from the clock ticking down to just three more days until fight night.
While Pacquiao appeared very calm and relaxed as he spoke to his fans and later joked with the media, Mayweather sounded a little tense in his speech. Given that both men have been involved in numerous big fights in the past, nerves aren’t expected to be an issue on Saturday but it certainly makes for some interesting analysis in the build-up.
