Argentina international will be staying at Camp Nou until June 2018.
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has agreed a new two-year deal with the Catalan club.
The 25-year-old Argentina forward joined Barcelona when he was 13, and debuted with the first team three years later.
He has gone on to become Barcelona’s all-time leading scorer en route to winning four FIFA world player of the year awards.
Barcelona first announced in December that Messi, along with midfielder Xavi Hernandez and defender Carles Puyol, had agreed to extend their contracts.
Messi enjoyed a record breaking 2012 for club and country, scoring a staggering 91 goals in the year.
Barcelona are top of La Liga with a nine-point cushion over nearest rivals Atletico Madrid, and a whopping 16 points clear of Madrid’s other side.
Real are all that stand in Barca’s way to the Copa del Rey final, and the Catalan club also face AC Milan in the last 16 of the Champions League.
