Miami set franchise record with 65th win of the season.
The Miami Heat held on to secure a 96-95 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, and did so without the much heralded ‘Big Three’.
Norris Cole posted up a season-high 16 points and a career-high 11 rebounds, while also adding a career-high nine assists to his box score to finish agonizingly close to a triple-double.
Rashard Lewis ended the game with 19 points, while Ray Allen added 11 points and six assists off the bench. Cole played a significant role in the latter stages of the game, stealing the ball from Kyrie Irving on the final possession of the game to give Miami the win.
Irving, Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters all scored 16 points apiece for the Cavaliers, but couldn’t stop a Miami team playing without LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, as well as Shane Battier and Udonis Haslem.
The regular season-finale for the Heat comes against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, before their opening round play-off series against the Milwaukee Bucks starts on the weekend. As for the Cavaliers, their season ends with a trip to Charlotte to face the Bobcats.
