The victory means that the Serbian is the first ever player to win both this event and the Indian Wells tournament in the same season three times. It was also his fifth Miami title, taking him closer to Andre Agassi’s record of six.
This was a familiar loss for Murray, who has been unable to beat his rival in the last seven matches they have played against each other. The 27-year-old was unable to take advantage of some mistakes from Djokovic early on, and was punished for it in the end.
Here are the highlights…
Murray started off strongly, breaking Djokovic to go 2-1 up in the first set…
However, the sun was playing havoc with both men’s serves. A series of breaks led to it being 4-4…
And it went down to a tie break, which the Serb won…
Early in the second set the Brit was forced to save a couple of break points, but came through unscathed…
And the crowd were not impressed with Djokovic shouting at them…
Murray took the set 6-4, drawing things equal…
Djokovic showed his frustration with the umpire…
But then he didn’t let Murray win a single game in the final set…
And he emphatically won the match with that whitewash!
