Take a good look at the soon-to-be former home of one of the world’s most famous athletes.
For a small fortune you too can sleep in the same bedroom that has housed one of the greatest athletes the world has ever seen – Michael Jordan.
The former NBA star is selling his massive home on the outskirts of Chicago claiming his children have grown up and he no longer needs a home as large as his anymore.
Located half an hour out of Chicago, the nine-bedroom, 15-bathroom mansion sprawls over three hectares and boasts five fireplaces, a wine cellar with room for 500 bottles, a home theatre, card room and cigar room.
Unsurprisingly, the knockout feature is an indoor basketball complex featuring a full-size court with cushioned flooring and competition-quality lighting. It has a sound system set up to provide perfect acoustics within the court space, and its own entrance and parking.
There’s also a three-bedroom guesthouse, pool area, outdoor tennis court and three climate-controlled multi-car garages. The private gate is boldly embellished with a huge number 23, the jersey number Jordan famously wore during his time with the Chicago Bulls.
Jordan, a six-time NBA champion, put his home of 20 years on the market for $29 million originally in February last year, which ended up by the most expensive listing price in the area ever.
But after failing to find a buyer, he is taking it to auction on November 22, with a $250,000 deposit to bid and no reserve.
It took two years to build and was designed to “Jordan’s exact specifications”, according to the listing.
