Tri-colours smash understrength Cronulla Sharks in the NRL.
After being made the scapegoat for the New South Wales side losing its eighth series in a row, Sydney Roosters halfback Mitchell Pearce showed his critics what is capable of.
The Roosters continued their excellent form this season as they thumped the Cronulla Sharks by 40 at Allianz Stadium with Pearce the star of the show.
Sydney coach Trent Robinson said he was overjoyed at how Pearce and the rest of the team handled the extra attention surrounding their playmaker in the aftermath of Origin.
“I’m proud of the club and the group after the way they responded and stood behind Mitchell,” Robinson said.
“Everyone in this club jumped behind him because we know what he’s capable of producing.
“But the guys were very happy and proud with the zero scoreline tonight.”
