Canadiens topple Bruins in shootout win on Wednesday night.
In a meeting between the top two teams in the Northeast Division, the Montreal Canadiens eventually overcame the Boston Bruins 6-5 in a shootout win.
Having squandered a two-goal lead, the Canadiens battled back from 4-2 down to seal the win at the TD Garden with Brendan Gallagher at the forefront of the comeback.
All six Bruins players were stopped by Peter Budaj in the shootout, while the first five Canadiens couldn’t score either.
It was up to Gallagher to see his team past the post, and he did so by driving the puck through the pads of Tuukka Rask.
The win snapped a tie for the second-most points in the Eastern Conference while also handing Montreal a point lead over their rivals in the Northeast Division.
