Pacioretty escapes punishment after hit on McDonagh.
Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty will not receive a fine or a suspension after an incident against the New York Rangers on Saturday night, according to NHL.com.
Pacioretty was assessed after boarding Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh in the second period of their 3-0 win but has now, much to the shock of many, escaped further punishment.
McDonagh was forced to leave the game at the Bell Center, and did not return. The video above shows Pacioretty forcefully drive his forearm into the back of McDonagh’s neck, causing him to connect with the glass and leaving him with a bloodied nose.
However, McDonagh wasn’t seriously injured and is expected to return for the next game against the Winnipeg Jets.
