Rivals are dismissive of the other’s debut in cruiserweight division.
Both Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew will be in action on July 12 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, but both cruiserweight stars have an eye on a rematch later this year.
Elsewhere on a packed bill next month is Anthony Joshua taking on Matt Skelton in what will undoubtedly be a step up for the Olympic gold medallist, while the Smith brothers also feature heavily in their hometown.
Super middleweight Callum Smith takes on US-based southpaw Vladine Biosse (15-3) while opponents for Paul and Stephen will be announced in the coming days.
Former Commonwealth super middleweight champion Rocky Fielding will also be in action as he faces Uruguayan Noe Gonzalez Alcoba (30-3), while the two main fights take place with the aim of bringing two domestic rivals back in the ring to face each other.
Three years on from their first meeting in Liverpool, Cleverly will hope to defeat Argentinian Alejandro Emilio Valori (15-4) while Bellew takes on Brazilian Julio Cesar Dos Santos (26-2) with the idea that if both men win then they will likely set up a rematch for later this year.
However, both have been dismissive of their rival’s opponents on entering the cruiserweight division, while it is clear that there is still a dislike between the two which originated in the build-up to their first fight.
While the ultimately aim for both fighters is to get their hands on a world title, public demand on these shores will push for them to face off one more time before the winner gets a chance of fighting for a belt.
