Nathan Cleverly has labelled Tony Bellew a “bully boy” and has promised to “smash him down” when the pair meet at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on Saturday night.
Cleverly was speaking at his public workout in Cardiff on Monday, and repeated what he said on the recent “Gloves Are Off” Sky Sports feature by insisting that his opponent was a bully.
However, the Welshman had a simple message for his rival, and he insists that the fight will not go the distance as he is going to Liverpool looking for an emphatic win.
The pair have had a heated rivalry since their first meeting back in 2011, a bout which Cleverly won on points to defend his light-heavyweight world title. However, both men have since moved up to cruiserweight and insist that they both feel much stronger and more comfortable at the new weight.
While Bellew is expected to hold a public workout of his own in Liverpool on Tuesday, the pair will come face-to-face at a final press conference on Thursday before the weigh-in on Friday.
That will be the last time they come head-to-head before Saturday’s showdown, with the likes of James DeGale, George Groves and Anthony Joshua also featuring on the packed bill.
