LeBron hits back at Harrison Barnes: James says no one ‘lets’ him score heavily.
LeBron James put up 39 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists for a highly influential triple-double as he continues to put this team on his back and carry them towards an NBA title.
The 30-year-old has logged significant minutes through the opening two games which will be a worry for coach David Blatt, but if he can continue to produce such inspired displays, then it will be all the Cavs need to overcome their rivals.
Meanwhile Klay Thompson responded with 34 points, but it wasn’t enough to ensure that the Warriors extended their lead in the series as they put together a spirited comeback at the end of regulation to send it into overtime.
Stephen Curry scored the final two points to tie the game to finish with 19 points, but it was an horrendous shooting night for the MVP as he went 5-of-23 from the field.
Despite the momentum switching back and forth throughout the game, it was the Cavs who ultimately outlasted their opponents and they will now head home for the next two games as they look to take a lead in the match-up.
What makes their achievement on Sunday night so remarkable is that they did it without Kyrie Irving who joined Kevin Love on the injury list for the rest of the series.
However, where there is LeBron there is a way and despite some big calls at the end of regulation, the two-time NBA champion ultimately had the last laugh as he was able to help his team secure the all-important W.
