The reigning NBA Rookie of the Year has had an inconsistent start to the season, but he tied his career high while Karl-Anthony Towns added 17 points as the Timberwolves snapped the Hawks’ seven-game winning streak.
Despite struggling to defend their lead at one stage, Minnesota were able to strike and pick up an impressive win as they improve to 4-2 for the season.
Given that few had picked them to come anywhere close to the playoffs in a stacked Western Conference, it has been a surprising start to the campaign particularly considering the emotional toll that Flip Saunders’ passing would have had on the organisation as a whole.
However, they have come back strong and proved that they have some talented pieces in place, but now the real task will be to add consistency and play at a high level night in and night out.
That won’t always be the case given how young the majority of their roster is, but it will undoubtedly be fun watching as after defeating the Chicago Bulls over the weekend, they have now taken out another top team from the Eastern Conference.
