Grizzlies rally to beat the Suns…
The Atlanta Hawks finally saw their winning streak end at 19 after losing on the road to the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night.
Anthony Davis scored 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the hosts as the Pelicans inflicted just a third defeat on the Hawks (40-9) in their last 36 games.
However, there was no immediate concern in the Atlanta camp as Paul Millsap insisted that the team were happy with the run but they must now regroup and go again with so much of the season left to go.
Meanwhile, the Pelicans (26-22) have now won six of their last seven games which has pulled them to within a game of the Phoenix Suns for eighth place in the Western Conference.
Elsewhere, the Cleveland Cavaliers won their 11th straight game with Kyrie Irving putting up 24 points along with five rebounds and five assists.
LeBron James added 18 points and 11 assists, but he wasn’t all that excited by the winning streak and insisted that the team haven’t proven anything yet as they continue to recover from a slow start.
James reminded all that the ultimate goal is the championship so until the players have played in a playoff series together, it remains to be seen how they will react when it really matters.
The Milwaukee Bucks won their fourth straight with an impressive road win over the Toronto Raptors, with Khris Middleton scoring 25 points while Giannis Antetokounmpo added 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Over in the West, the Oklahoma City Thunder also won with Russell Westbrook’s triple-double powering them past the Orlando Magic.
Westbrook had 25 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists as OKC improve to 24-24 as they continue to battle to make the playoffs.
Victor Oladipo responded with 22 points and seven rebounds for the visitors, but it wasn’t enough to help the Magic avoid slipping to 15-36.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies rallied against the Phoenix Suns to secure a win with Marc Gasol posting 15 points, six rebounds and eight assists and had a key block on the last play while Jeff Green had a three-point play with 4.5 seconds remaining.
