Houston Rockets star James Harden came to the rescue for his team on Friday night as he nailed a buzzer-beater to seal a 113-111 win over the Phoenix Suns.
Harden made the 20-foot jumper as time ran out to lift the Rockets to the win as he covered the loss of center Dwight Howard who failed to return to the game after injuring his ankle in the first quarter.
The Rockets star is the leading scorer in the NBA with an average of 27.2 points per game and he added 10 assists and six rebounds to his 14-of-17 free throw attempts for the visitors.
“It’s a great feeling,” Harden said. “We had a pretty solid lead; we knew they were going to make a run. Make it, or miss it and go into overtime. I made it.”
Rockets coach Kevin McHale revealed that they set up the play for Harden to deliver and he didn’t disappoint as he has been making big shots all year.
Harden insisted that he “lives for those moments” and he certainly proved that he can produce clutch moments when the Rockets need him.
