Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant recorded a triple-double on Tuesday night as they sealed a road win over the Denver Nuggets.
The Lakers secured a 111-103 win over the Nuggets behind 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists from their 36-year-old veteran star, and they improve to 10-22 for the season.
Bryant is the second-oldest among active players to record a triple-double, trailing only Tim Duncan, but it was a welcome return to form after he took time out last week to rest after a busy start to the season in which he played a team-high in minutes.
Mamba played nearly 32 minutes in his second game back after missing three games around Christmas because of overall soreness, and he insisted after the game that it was now obvious that he can benefit from game management.
“You see now — very, very efficient,” said Bryant, who also had nine turnovers. “I know exactly where I want to go. I get to my spots. I don’t try to beat guys with quickness. I back them down, get to my areas and elevate over them. Old school Oscar Robertson-style.”
Bryant also shared a joke with former teammate and Nuggets coach Brian Shaw after he revealed that Bryant used to make fun of him for icing his knees near the back-end of his career. Now Bryant is the one icing his feet before and after games, but he will be delighted with a return to form on Tuesday.
